'Controlled explosion' has taken place of ammunition found near Milton Keynes

    A controlled explosion has taken place this evening of ammunition found near Milton Keynes.

    The controlled explosion was made in a field near Chartwell Road in Newport Pagnell.

    Thames Valley Police and the Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal were called to the scene this afternoon.

    The EOD has now made safe the ammunition, believed to be from World War Two.

    The emergency services and EOD will now be leaving the scene shortly.

    Some residents had to be evacuated from their homes and they are being supported.

    Thames Valley Police say they would like to thank everyone for their patience while the ammunition was made safe by our colleagues from EOD.
