Captain Tom Moore in hospital with COVID-19

Captain Sir Tom Moore, the Second World War veteran who was knighted after raising millions of pounds for the NHS during the UK's first lockdown, has been admitted to hospital with pneumonia today (31/01).

The Captain tested positive for Covid-19 last week according to the family's statement on his Twitter account.

He had been treated at his home in Marston Moretaine for pneumonia in the last few weeks, however, today he was admitted to Bedford Hospital for help with his breathing.

Currently, Sir Tom is not in ICU.

The family also praised the medical care he has received for his illness at home and acknowledge the 'wonderful' staff at Bedford Hospital, who they believe will make him as comfortable as possible.

A spokesperson for Captain Sir Tom told Sky News he had not yet been vaccinated because he was being treated for pneumonia.
