Beautiful - The Carole King Musical comes to Milton Keynes Theatre this April!

Beautiful – The Carole King Musical will bring the chart-topping music legend’s hits to life including ‘Will You Love Me Tomorrow’, ‘On Broadway’, ‘The Locomotion’ and ‘You've Got a Friend’.

It may have taken a few years; it may have taken some real heartbreak but when Carole King finally learned to trust in her own voice, her own songs and her own extraordinary talent, she gave the world a seriously Beautiful back catalogue.

Of course, it all might have been so different for the Brooklyn girl if, as she’d imagined, she had ended up spending her life living in the suburbs with no greater ambition than to be a good Jewish wife and mother.  Married at 17, a mother by the age of 18, Carole was the last person who thought that she would end up honoured in both the Songwriters and the Rock and Roll Halls of Fame with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as well as several Lifetime Achievement awards.

But, as Beautiful - The Carole King Musical tells, her story became ‘a tapestry of rich and royal hue’, charting the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom; from being part of a hit song writing team, with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history.

Along the way, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation, including one of the best-selling albums of all time, Tapestry, and countless classics such as (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, Take Good Care of My Baby, You’ve Got a Friend, So Far Away, It Might as Well Rain Until September, Up on the Roof and The Locomotion.

Daisy Wood-Davis, best known for playing Kim Butterfield in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks and who starred as Sheila in the touring production of Hair at MKT last summer, stars as Carole King.

She is joined by Adam Gillian as King’s husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin, Laura Baldwin as Cynthia Weil, Cameron Sharp as Barry Mann, Susie Fenwick as King’s mother Genie Klein and Oliver Boot as music publisher and producer Donnie Kirshner. At certain performances, Carole King will be played by Vicki Manser.

Beautiful – The Carole King Musical comes to Milton Keynes Theatre from Tue 7th to Sat 11th April. Ticket details and information can be found here.
