Award-winning local businesswomen appointed to lead full fibre roll out in Milton Keynes

CityFibre, the UK’s largest alternative provider of wholesale fibre network infrastructure, has appointed Jean Gowin as City Development Manager for Milton Keynes.

In her new role at CityFibre, Jean will support the roll out of city-wide full fibre infrastructure across Milton Keynes. The city is the first to benefit from a strategic partnership between CityFibre and Vodafone, which will see full fibre connectivity reach 1 million homes and businesses across the UK by 2021.

As part of her role, she will be responsible for being a local point of contact for all city stakeholders as well as being a key advocate for the project and the benefits it will bring to businesses and the wider community.

Jean joins CityFibre from dbfb Communications, a local ISP provider specialising in ultrafast connectivity, where she was a MK Relationship Director, responsible for developing key relationships with businesses across the city as the firm expanded its operations.

She is also a Private Sector Board Member of the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP), Director of Milton Keynes Business Leaders Partnership (MKBLP) and Governor of both MK College and MK Academy.

Jean Gowin, said: “I’m excited to join CityFibre as City Development Manager for Milton Keynes, supporting both the commercial and residential full fibre rollout across the city.

“It’s such an exciting time for Milton Keynes. I look forward to furthering CityFibre’s excellent reputation and leading city commercial relationships, developing opportunities and expanding community engagement.

“My role will promote the many benefits full fibre connectivity can bring to our growing business community as well as support the implementation of the £40 million investment in partnership with Vodafone, which will see ‘fibre to the premises’ rolled out to almost every home and business in Milton Keynes.”

Chris Stening, Consumer Director, CityFibre, said: “Jean’s unrivalled knowledge of Milton Keynes makes her a real asset to the team. We are pleased to have Jean on board to help us lead the area’s Gigabit City transformation.
