Anyone aged 40 or over in Milton Keynes can attend a walk-in vaccination clinic to get their jab this week

Anyone that is over the age of 40 can attend a walk-in vaccination clinic to have their COVID-19 jab this week, and there is no need to book.

For the first time in the area’s local vaccination programme, drop-in sessions are being offered at the Saxon Court Mass Vaccination Centre to make the most of available vaccine supplies.

This means that people over the age of 40 will be able to simply show up at the centre on Tuesday (18/5), Wednesday (19/5) and Thursday (20/5) this week between 08:30 and 12:30 to have the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Other eligible residents, including those with a learning disability, healthcare workers, or people that are deemed high risk, can also attend the drop-in clinic.

A form of identification should be brought along to the Vaccination Centre. The individual's NHS number is preferred, but a driving licence, passport, or utility bill are also accepted.

Those people who already have a booked appointment at a vaccination centre, GP-led site or pharmacy should still attend their appointment as planned.

Dr Sarah Whiteman, Chair of Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We’ve given nearly 700,000 doses of vaccine across the area so far and we’re keen to make sure that no one gets left behind.

"We’re opening the doors at our large vaccine centres for walk-ins for a limited time, so you can just turn up and get your jab. If you haven’t got around to booking your vaccine appointment yet, this is the perfect opportunity to start to get protected.”

In other news, anybody over the age of 36 can use the online booking system to arrange their COVID-19 vaccination appointment.
