Anglian Water helps hundreds of Milton Keynes families through the Household Support Fund

Anglian Water has teamed up with local councils across the region to assist families following cost of living crisis which has hit the country.

Anglian Water has recently been working with councils in Milton Keynes, Hartlepool and Rutland, helping to make a difference to households who are struggling to pay their water bills.

Over 700 families so far have received support and Anglian are approaching other councils across the region for to see if they can facilitate the support through the fund.

The new Household Support Fund is distributed by councils in England to directly help those who need it most. The grant helps to distribute through small payments to support vulnerable households trying to meet daily needs such as food, clothing, and utilities.

Pete Holland, Director of Customer and Household Services for Anglian Water said, “This collaboration with the local councils is valuable to us and having the opportunity to help some of the customers in our region who need our help most at such a crucial time.

“We have households who have not been able to pay their bills for many years due to their circumstances and with the cost of living hugely increasing this year it is a critical time for our customers.”

Households which met the criteria set by the local councils have seen a partial payment of their outstanding water bills and in some cases their debt has been cleared.  This has only been possible where the customers have seen their circumstances meet the requirements for the fund.

Over the last month, Anglian Water has seen funding of over £200,000 provided by the three councils.
