A Milton Keynes school for children with learning disabilities has a confirmed case of coronavirus

    The Redway School, based in Netherfield, yesterday (23/3) issued a statement saying that the school community has a confirmed case of COVID-19.

    The Redway School caters for children between the ages of 2 – 19 with a wide range of learning difficulties, including complex medical conditions, profound and multiple learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties and those with an autistic spectrum condition.

    The statement, which was posted on the school's website, reads: "We have had a case of COVID-19 confirmed today, within the school community.

    "As such, we are closing the school to everyone, pupils and staff, for two weeks.

    "Please take all necessary precautions to keep you and your families safe. We are living in strange and surreal times."

    Parents were also encouraged to sign up to the school's Facebook page, the SIMS Parent app and were encouraged to continue checking the website for further information. 

    As of Tuesday morning (24/3), there are 17 confirmed cases in Milton Keynes. It is important to note that not all of those with the virus would have been tested. To keep up to date with the number of confirmed cases in your local area, please click here
