95% of people over the age of 65 in Milton Keynes have had their COVID-19 jab

Data published today (4/2) reveals that over 95.7% of local people aged 65 plus have had their COVID-19 jab.

The figures released today only cover the period up until Sunday 28th February so it is likely this number is even higher than reported.

67,793 people of all ages in Milton Keynes have had at least one dose of the vaccine, while 5,512 people are now fully vaccinated against the virus.

3,363 of these second doses are in the over 65s age group.

Up to 450 people are being vaccinated at Milton Keynes Hospital each day, with hundreds more vaccinations taking place across various GP surgeries and Saxon Court's Mass Vaccination Centre.

Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK)'s Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are now working towards vaccinating the next priority group, cohort 6, which are those aged 16-64 with underlying health conditions.

And those over the age of 60 are also being contacted asking them to book their vaccination.

Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, said: "This is fantastic news as our vaccine programme continues to be a huge success. 95.7% is a hugely impressive number and I want to thank everybody who has taken the vaccine and everybody involved in the entire process from NHS staff, to volunteers to people involved in the vaccine production.

"The success of the vaccination scheme has allowed the Prime Minister to set his roadmap out of lockdown and it's vital we keep it up to stay on track."
