19-year-old Milton Keynes man pleads guilty after being caught with four inch knife

A man has been convicted of a knife offence after he was found in possession of a weapon in Milton Keynes.

Femi Adio, aged 19, of Blanchland Circle, Milton Keynes, pleaded guilty to the offence in a hearing at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (5/7).

On Monday (4/7) officers responded to reports of a burglary in progress in Loughton, and located a vehicle parked nearby.

Officers carried out a Stop and Search, and Adio was detained after officers found a four inch knife in his possession.

Following his arrest, he was charged in the early hours of Tuesday (5/7).

Appearing at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court later that day, Adio admitted the offence.

He will reappear at the same court on 9 August.

Investigating officer PC Lee Paton, based at Milton Keynes police station, said: “As a result of this search, and our new operation, Op Deter, we have taken a knife off the streets of Milton Keynes.

“Op Deter will robustly seek swift charge and remand in cases of knife possession and Adio was arrested, charged, and convicted within one day.

“This result highlights that Op Deter is already proving successful in removing knives from our communities and putting offenders before the courts.

“Within four hours of Adio being arrested, he was charged and remanded to court.

“I hope this outcome serves as a warning to others, that if you are found in possession of a knife, you will be arrested, we will seek to charge you and bring you to justice quickly.”
