16-year-old from Milton Keynes sentenced for carrying kitchen knife

Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a boy has been sentenced for being in possession of a knife in Milton Keynes.

The boy, aged 16, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a bladed article in a public place.

At Milton Keynes Magistrates Court on Tuesday (11/10) he was sentenced to a nine month referral order.

On Monday (10/10) the boy was being arrested for an unrelated matter, when officers located a black kitchen knife in his bag.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Grant, based at Milton Keynes police station, said: “As a result of Operation Deter, we have secured a swift conviction and sentence of a boy, who admitted being in possession of a knife.

“Operation Deter will continue to target those seeking to carry knives in our communities.

“It is not acceptable behaviour in any circumstances, and you are more likely to become a victim of knife crime yourself if you choose to carry a knife.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to take these knives off the streets, making our communities safer and put offenders before the courts.”
