    MUSICAL MILESTONES: The English Revival
    JOHN IRELAND & CYRIL SCOTT
A talk illustrated with fine CD recordings by Adrian Boynton
Ireland established his reputation with a fine body of chamber music demonstrating on exceptionally refined understanding of the instruments involved. His orchestral tone poems and overtures are colourfully scored and his Piano Concerto, with its racy jazz interludes, is among the finest of the Twentieth Century. The great choral work 'These things shall be' is an inspirational work expressing the composer's deepest hopes for mankind. Born just one month after Ireland, Cyril Scott became known as the 'English Debussy' on account of the Impressionist style of his piano and chamber works. He also produced a fine Piano Concerto, along with other symphonic and choral works.
