The inaugural Milton Keynes Film and Comic Con is coming – and it is bringing an extraterrestrial mutant to town; a life-size Dalek is ready to join in the fun on Sunday, June 9.
Milton Keynes Theatre is the hosting venue for the event, and film and comic fans are being invited to celebrate in style, by dressing in cosplay as their favourite characters.
Will you be Princess Leia or Spiderman? Captain America, perhaps? Harry Potter? Yoda?
Maybe someone else altogether. The choice is yours.
Of course ticket-holders don't have to dress to impress, and there will plenty of other ways to get into the event atmosphere; with board and role-playing games throughout the day. The team behind the film and comic con have also booked a psychological magician for the event, and there will be a demo from light sabre aces, Silver Sabres.
A wealth of traders will be selling everything a film and comic con attendee could ask for; from mini-figures, comics and prints to handmade themed gifts, steampunk merchandise and geeky items. There will also be stalls dedicated to all things Star Wars, Buffy and brand Marvel.
Film props, collectibles and memorabilia will be for sale, and Oxfam will be in situ, with an assortment of pre-owned collectibles, comics, video games and memorabilia.
Keeping the kids entertained will be easy, too, with a gaming area and various crafts, face-painting and balloon artist just for youngsters.
Organiser Troy Galo said: “We feel there that this kind event has been missing from Milton Keynes for a while and we’re really excited to launch a new show for film and comic fans, just like ourselves. Milton Keynes Theatre will be a great venue, with its lobby and levels above – we can’t wait to see all the local enthusiasts and cosplayers!”
Co-organiser Jackie Galo added: “We want people to show their support and grow with us – this first show will form the basis for bigger events, which we're already planning!”
