As part of Independent Venue Week 2020, MK Gallery is delighted to present Finnish psych-pop voyager Jaakko Eino Kalevi with dreamy, Indie-poppers Wyldest in support.

    Jaakko Eino Kalevi

Never one to repeat himself, Multi-instrumentalist Jaakko Eino Kalevi’s new mini-album, Dissolution (released on Weird World, late 2019), comes from a sparkling new constellation in his musical universe as he draws deep for a set of songs that explores the cosmic implications of a life being well lived. Taking in heavy funk, chakra-aligning electro and rococo space balladry, this is one for the outer reaches of the dance floor, where the more interesting things are usually going on.

    Wyldest

Wyldest is the musical project of London-based singer-songwriter-producer Zoe Mead , flanked by multi-instrumentalist Mariin Kallikorm and drummer Jack Gooderham.

Drawing on a wide range of influences from Depeche Mode and Talking Heads to Blonde Redhead and Siouxsie and the Banshees, Wyldest have been honing their unique brand of dream-pop out of initial bedroom recordings into more polished shoegaze-tinged outings, since meeting Hand In Hive Records at Green Man Festival in the summer of 2014.

Picking-up comparisons such as Daughter and Warpaint, the trio have always enjoyed a wide range of support from Radio 1's Huw Stephens, through online coverage from the likes of Pigeons and Planes, NME, Indie Shuffle and DIY to The Independent, The Telegraph and SPIN.
