Our local Olympic hero, Greg Rutherford, who won Gold in the long jump on ‘Super Saturday’ at the Olympic Stadium. was saluted by his home town of Woburn Sands on Friday 28th September 2012.
He was carried through Woburn Sands in a vintage open top bus, and MKFM were there at the start of the route at Frosts Garden Centre.
Greg make his way past the station, along Station Road, Theydon Avenue and The Leys.
The parade ended at Mowbray Green where there were speeches from local dignitaries and a special gold commemorative plaque to remember Greg's achievement was unveiled.
It was a great day with lots to celebrate - check out all the photos in our gallery here...

Getting There

Parking will be limited in Woburn Sands as this is expected to be a very busy event - the best place to park is at Frosts Garden Centre which has a large carpark.
Frosts Garden Centre, Newport Road, Woburn Sands, Milton Keynes MK17 8UE, Tel 01908 583511
Alternatively there is a train station at Woburn Sands which is served from Bletchley and Bedford (although there is no direct train from Milton Keynes Central so you'll need to change at Bletchley).
You can catch the 15:47 from Bletchley arriving Woburn Sands station at 15:58.
From Bedford, the 15:55 arrives in Woburn Sands at 16:26, although the service an hour earlier may be better securing a front row position.
