MK Gymnast Wins Silver at the British Gymnastics Men’s Masters Final

Milton Keynes Gymnastics are celebrating as one of their gymnasts is crowned 2nd in Great Britain on the extremely demanding Pommel Horse.

A local gymnast, living and studying in Milton Keynes is now able to boast being the 2nd best gymnast in Great Britain on the Pommel Horse. Prashanth Sellathurai, who trains at Milton Keynes Gymnastics competed at the prestigious British Championships in Liverpool last weekend.

After a tough qualifying round, which saw Prashanth fight to stay on the Pommel, he went into the final on Sunday the 26th March full of determination.  He saw off tough competition, including many GB gymnasts such as Sam Oldham.  His clean and complicated routine was awarded a great score of 13.775 which secured him a silver medal position.

His coach Alex Leidlmair, Head of Men’s Artistic at Milton Keynes Gym said “I am so happy for Prashanth.  He has worked very hard for this success and we are keen to push forward and keep him at the top of his game.  He’s come back into competition after a shoulder injury and has worked tirelessly to perfect his routine.”

Prashanth is a master of the Pommel Horse and even has two moves named after him; an accolade which is awarded to the gymnast who invented and performed the move first.  He is currently studying medicine at Milton Keynes Hospital and fits his training schedule around these commitments. a
