Established in 1991, MK SNAP is a charity built on achievement, team work and individual development whose purpose is offering work and life skills training to individuals aged 16+ who have physical and learning difficulties.

MK SNAP are the only organisation in Milton Keynes delivering this type of training. Working with vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals,  MK SNAP is an important and integral provider of services within Milton Keynes.

People accessing MK SNAP services include those recovering from a Stroke or Head Injury, with a Visual Impairment, Autism, Downs Syndrome, Epilepsy and Wheelchair users. They are generally excluded from more traditional and mainstream learning, due to their current ability levels and/or emotional or behavioral difficulties.

MK SNAP objectives are to provide a holistic training opportunity for people who are excluded from, or not able to learn in mainstream settings. MK SNAP offers an alternative training option that is experiential and not based in a formal academic setting. We use real work from local companies as the focus for the training. Each job is evaluated for the skills it offers and these are then matched to the skills the individuals need to develop.

This enables them to develop their: Confidence, Dexterity, Hand & Eye Co-ordination, Concentration, Problem solving skills, Communication, Social Skills, Physical and Mental Stamina, Life Skills, Numeracy and Literacy, Basic Computer skills and follow a structured routine. Developing these skills enables them to have a real sense of purpose, a more positive outlook on life, the ability to engage with others in the wider community, thereby enjoying an improved quality of life.

Fundraising Events

MK SNAP organise many fundraising events locally, such as their Fayres, Quiz Nights and a Coffee Morning every Wednesday between 11am and 12.30pm at their centre in Walnut Tree.
