MKFM are getting behind Amazing MK - the new city brand for Milton Keynes.
You can find out more at www.amazingmk.co.uk
When Milton Keynes was created in 1967, few could have imagined that the hundreds of thousands of people who now live and work in this amazing place would come to love it so much. As we continue to grow and develop, many businesses and organisations want to encourage potential residents, workers and visitors to discover for themselves what MK has to offer.
Destination Milton Keynes (DMK), whose role is to promote and develop Milton Keynes as a key destination for business and leisure, is often asked for common language and images to describe what makes Milton Keynes special.
Think about how Liverpool, Glasgow and other successful large cities have a consistent ‘voice’. As MK grows and competes on the world’s stage, we will sing louder and more clearly when we’re all following the same tune. This brand website will help us all promote Milton Keynes’ distinct and appealing offer in unison, which is great news for MK and for anyone promoting their organisation.
Of course everyone has a very personal view about the city and what it means to them, the trick is to share a consistent, positive vision of MK that everyone understands. In creating the city brand, DMK interviewed many people who live in, work in and visit Milton Keynes to define what makes our home so special. This research helped to define who we are – MK’s brand personality.
It also defined the values we stand for:
Different by design. There are so many reasons to love Milton Keynes.
Our city is unique. It’s purpose-designed for people who live life to the full. We’ve got dazzling sports and leisure facilities. Enviable shopping. Bars, restaurants and theatres that rival even the biggest of cities.
Everything is so easy to get to. It’s something everyone notices. Our grid system makes travelling by car or bus so easy and quick. Or if you’re under your own steam, you can whizz around on Redways that criss-cross the city with more than 270 kilometres of safe routes for cyclists and pedestrians.
Where are you heading? If shopping is your passion, you’ll love thecentre:mk. This world-class undercover shopping centre attracts 30 million shoppers every year with more than 230 top stores, high street names and independent retailers. Midsummer Place is our stylish fashion quarter with an irresistible collection of designer clothing and high-tech home entertainment stores.
If you love one-off stores and traders, then head for the charming picture postcard towns and villages that surround our city. Try Stony Stratford, Woburn and Olney for quaint high streets and well-stocked farmers’ markets.
Sports fans love Milton Keynes. No wonder. It’s the extreme sports capital of the UK with adrenaline-pumping excitement right in the heart of the city.
Step onto real snow and ski, snowboard or toboggan at the SNO!zone, one of the biggest indoor snow slopes in the country. Or defy gravity and fly like a bird at the amazing indoor skydiving centre Airkix. An unforgettable experience. Or if you don’t mind getting wet then head over to Wake MK for one of the UK’s newest and highest tech cable centres for waterskiers and boarders.
art, culture and events
Culture lovers are spoilt for choice with our crowd-pulling venues and exhibitions. Browse at the award-winning Milton Keynes Gallery with its superb displays of contemporary art. Enjoy our city’s large collection of public sculptures, one of the biggest in the UK, with striking works by acclaimed artists all around the city.
Explore our surprising history. Tour Bletchley Park, now a museum attracting visitors from all over the world, and discover the secret headquarters of the ingenious war-time code-breakers. Trace the intriguing history of our region from 1800 to the present day at Milton Keynes Museum.
Our theatre and events get top billing too. Take in a show featuring West End stars at famous MK Theatre. Visit The Bowl, our stunning 65,000 seat venue, which plays host to superstars like David Bowie, Robbie Williams, Take That and Bon Jovi.
wide open spaces
If it’s fresh air you’re after, you’re never far away from wide open spaces. We have more than 4,500 acres of parkland, woodland, lakes and rivers.
Campbell Park is our green oasis right in the heart of the city and nearby Willen Lake is our beautiful outdoor playground with more than 180 acres of lakes and parkland. You can walk, cycle, sail, windsurf, dragon-boat race or just watch the world go by in the tranquil surroundings of the Peace Pagoda. The choice is yours.
Milton Keynes. There’s nowhere like it.
